Press Release
Join Green Dogs Unleashed (GDU) – a Troy based non-profit special needs animal rescue – as it hosts the K-9 Frisbee Toss & Fetch World Championship to be held Sept.9 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Patch Brewing Co. in Gordonsville, Va.
Teams compete regionally around the world on the same day; with over 250 chapters spread across the world – that’s a lot of discs and dogs! Come prepared to cheer on your favorites as 25 teams compete at this local event – including three-time world champion Finn Proctor and his deaf dogs. Don’t miss the chance to watch a champion toss, and his remarkable dogs fly!
“We are so excited to be able to host this national championship right here in Central Virginia,” said Erika Proctor, founder and director of GDU. She hopes audience members will be inspired to participate in the sport – and that watching some of the hearing or vision-impaired dogs competing will help people understand that special needs dogs can live full, joyful lives. “This sport is not only incredibly fun, but it helps create unbreakable bonds between humans and their canine companions,” Proctor said.
