David Brenton Banks, 23, of Buckingham.David Brenton Banks, 23, of Buckingham was arrested for robbery, abduction, and attempted malicious wounding on Sept. 26 in connection with the  Kidd’s Store robbery, Lt. David R. Wells of the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office said Friday (Oct. 4).
Authorities had delayed releasing his name, saying it could hamper the investigation.
Banks has been released on bond, according to Wells.
Two armed gunmen robbed Kidd’s Store near Scottsville in Fluvanna County Wednesday night (Sept. 25). No one was injured.
Wells said the robbery occurred around 10:20 p.m. just  before the store was to close. One male entered the store, brandished a pistol, and demanded money. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
A second male armed with a shotgun remained outside the store and confronted a customer in the parking lot. “He (the customer) was just held there until the thing was over,” said Wells. The two men then fled on foot. Authorities suspect more than two people may have been involved in the robbery.
Wells said “it is further believed that the offenders had a getaway vehicle parked in a parking lot behind the store.”
The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Jefferson Area Crimestoppers, is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for “credible information that leads to the arrest and successful prosecution of the person or persons involved in the armed robbery of Kidd’s Store,” according to the sheriff’s office.
