Proposed new gate recommendations for the Lake

The ad hoc committee formed to investigate the proposed Lafayette gate presented its recommendations to the LMOA Board at its May 23 meeting. Five gates service the approximately 10,000 residents of Lake Monticello. The proposed gate is intended to help ease traffic congestion at the Tufton gate on Rt. 53.

“I was flabbergasted,” Lake Monticello resident Deborah Nixon recalled.  “If I hadn’t been working the camera I would have said something.”

So began a storm of controversy that has swept over Lake Monticello since the April 25 meeting of its board of directors.

Lake Monticello Owners' Association postpones hearing

A second reading proposing an age limit for unchaperoned children using Lake Monticello’s recreational facilities including its swimming pool, parks and the beaches has been postponed, according to a posting today (May 9) on LMOA's Facebook page.

Lake water line repaired; some get boil water notice

The water line break on Drew Court (adjacent to Nahor, not Turkeysag as originally reported) on Monday evening (Jan. 7) has been repaired, according to the Lake Monticello Owners Association.

Water service was turned back on for customers between 1:30 and 2 a.m. Tuesday morning (Jan.8). A subsequent break at Barrett Street and Jefferson was repaired and water turned back on just after 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

A major water main break occurred early this evening (Jan. 7) on Drew Court, a cul de sac just off Turkeysag Trail, according to the Lake Monticello Owners’ Association.
