Guided tours of Fluvanna County’s new high school will be held Thursday (July 12) and Thursday (July 26).

The July 12 tours will last from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the guided tours beginning every 15 minutes. The July 26 tours will run from 6 to 8 p.m. with the guided tours beginning every 15 minutes.

Kaitlin Blake Driver of Palmyra has been named to the President’s List at Clemson University for the spring 2012 semester. Driver is majoring in therapeutic recreation.

Calvary Christian School announced its honor roll students for the 2011-2012 school term. Principal’s honor roll students must maintain an average of 95% or higher on all academic subjects, and honor roll students must maintain an average of 89% or higher on all academic subjects. Calvary Christian School is a ministry of Calvary Baptist Church in New Canton in Buckingham County.

The highlight at the school board meeting held on Wednesday (June 13) was a discussion about the budget shortfall of $539,545 for 2013. Finance Director Ed Breslauer said, “Supplemental budget appropriation for fiscal year 2013 in the amount of $650,000 would raise the total appropriation for fiscal year 2013 to $34,318,540. However, Breslauer explained that they would be short $539,545.
