New Fluvanna teachersEvery new school year comes with it the excitement of new clothes, new school supplies and fresh faces. This year, Fluvanna has taken on a few new hires, eager to greet and welcome kids on their first day of school on Mon., Aug. 13.

The school system’s new hires aren’t costing the county any more money. The number of positions within the district remains the same.

The Fluvanna County School Board met last night to discuss new developments in the choosing of a new health care plan for Fluvanna County school system employees. Although an ultimate decision has not been reached, the board, with the help of the Solicitation Review Committee, has settled on one company.

After nearly a year of planning and production, the 2012 Fluvanna County High School yearbook will be delivered and distributed to 2012 graduates on Tuesday, July 24, at the new high school.

“We’re very excited for students to see the 2012 yearbook,” said Yearbook Adviser Elizabeth Pellicane. “This year’s book, which has the theme ‘Locked in Memories,’ has the most amazing design elements and the largest number of photos of any FCHS yearbook ever. Our Yearbook Team students really outdid themselves this year,” she said.
