Eighteen hole and nine hole Gray Fox winnersThe senior mens’ golf program at the Lake Monticello Golf Course is known as the Gray Foxes. This year the Gray Foxes completed their 26th year of play. Seniors 55 years old, and over, play in an eighteen hole format every Thursday morning, and in a nine hole format every Friday morning. Golfers are required to select one format or the other – you cannot play in both.

4-H horse club members

Horse ‘N’ Around Fluvanna 4-H Club recently competed at the 2012 Virginia State 4-H Championship Horse and Pony Show at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Va. Horse ‘N’ Around ended with a successful year! All the members who attended the state show left the showgrounds with a ribbon!

Eleven, two-man teams competed this year in the Lake Monticello Men’s Member-Member Golf Tournament. The event was played on Sunday (Oct. 14). The format for the tournament was best ball of two, with competition in both gross and net scores.

The large ninth green at the Lake Monticello Golf Course. In February 2012, Billy Casper Golf took over the maintenance of the Lake Monticello Golf Course. After nine months on the job, the results are very favorable.

The Casper organization brought in Jim Prucnal from Delaware to head up the Lake’s maintenance operation. Prucnal said that his biggest concern since he took over has been “paying attention to details.” While it is true that regular golfers have noticed a lot of little details that have improved, Prucnal is obviously being overly modest.

The board of directors of the Golfers Social Foundation (the parent organization of the Golfers Youth Development Foundation) has organized a social event for the residents of Lake Monticello to be held on Saturday (Oct. 27) at the fire house located near Slice gate.
