Jean J. Burns of Lake Monticello died peacefully, enveloped in love, on November 2, 2013. She was 83-years-old.
She was born on January 19, 1930 in Richmond, Virginia. Her parents were Howard Houston Johnson of Richmond and Jessie Broadway Johnson of Durham, North Carolina.
Jean’s battle with breast cancer began when she was 49 years old while living in Wilton, Connecticut. Her indomitable spirit defied the odds for many, many years allowing her to enjoy a wonderful and productive life at Lake Monticello with her husband, Carlos. They were happy partners in life and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on October 27, 2013.

Former Commissioner of Revenue; school board member dies
T. Kent Loving, 84, died on Thursday, October 10, 2013. He was the son of Thomas Joseph “T.J.” and Virginia Kent Loving. Kent is survived by his wife of 62 years, Harriet Layne Loving; a son, Thomas Joel Loving and wife, Betty; a granddaughter, Katie; a grandson, Andrew; a step grandson, Nick and wife, Tracy; and a brother, Edward and wife, Aretta. Kent was a life-long farmer and breeder of Polled Hereford cattle on his ancestral farm “Granite Hills.” He was a graduate of Fluvanna County High School and Virginia Polytechnic Institute (now Virginia Tech).

Daniel Wayne Pace, 76, of Troy, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Born on March 21, 1937 in Charlottesville, Virginia, he was the son of the late Robert Stanley Pace and Grace Goodson Pace. He was also predeceased by his brother, Stafford M. “Buck” Pace and his wife Jane.

Mary P. (Kiser) Saylor, age 71, of Wellsboro, PA, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. She was born June 25, 1942 in York, PA, a daughter of Clovis and Geneva (Ryer) Kiser. Mary graduated from York Catholic High School Class of 1960. She married John W. Saylor on May 13, 1961 and celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this year. Mary and her husband owned and operated the Skyview Motel and Restaurant in Bremo Bluff, VA from 1980 to 1999. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Wellsboro and Morris 55 Plus Club.

Judge Herbert Iverson Lewis Feild, son of the late Richard Bernard Feild and Marion Lewis Feild died May 25, 2013. Judge Feild was born June 23, 1928, a native of Gloucester County and resided there until moving to Mathews County in 1993. Judge Feild attended public schools in Gloucester County, Randolph-Macon College, and received a degree of Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond Law School in 1957. While at the law school he was a member of the National Moot Court Team representing the school and a member of and Chancellor of the McNeil Law Society, a honor law society. Judge Feild returned to Gloucester County in 1957 where he practiced law in the firm of Pointer and Feild. In 1974 he was elected by the General Assembly of Virginia to the bench of the Ninth Judicial District Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, where he served with distinction until his retirement in 1994. Thereafter he continued to sit in the District Court when recalled to service from time to time until 1998.
