George Bernard Bockman Jr. of Palmyra, Virginia, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013. Devotedly by his side was his wife, Jean; along with their daughters, Shawn and Margaret; son, Richard; and son-in-law, Michael. George is survived by his sweetheart and wife of more than 51 years, Gloria Jean (Gourley) Bockman; daughters and sons-in-law, Shawn Marie and David Long and Margaret Dolores and Michael Arnold; and son, Richard Seldon Bockman.

Evlynn Ann Murphy, 88, of Charlottesville passed away peacefully on Dec. 29, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John “Jack” Murphy and her eldest son, Kenneth. She is survived by her children: Donald/Karen (Merrick, NY), Thomas “TJ”/Mary (Crofton, MD) and Debbie (Augusta, GA). She is also survived by her first grandchild Kerry Murphy-Hammond/John (Columbia, VA), grandchildren: Kim/Daniel Gregory (Southlake, TX), David (Dallas, TX), Rebecca/Jed (New Orleans, LA), Rachel (Brooklyn, NY), Brian and Kevin (Baltimore, MD), Allison (Los Angeles, CA), Christopher, Caroline and Michael of Merrick, NY. She is also survived by her three great grandchildren Delaney, Audrey and Calvin.

Rupert Wilder “Bob” Tatum, Jr., 74, of Palmyra, died on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
He was born on Sunday, April 30, 1939 in Honduras, a son of the late Rupert Wilder Tatum, Sr. and Caroline Cecilia (Sanabria) Tatum.

Florence Bill, who was the subject of a Fluvanna Review cover story on Oct. 10, died Oct. 16. She was 106-years-old. Her obituary was provided courtesy of her son, Robert Bill.
Florence Kathryn Bill of Palmyra, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Hospice House of the Piedmont, at 106 years of age. She was born on October 12, 1907, in the Bronx, New York, to Frederick and Anna (Helbig) Dick. Her mother died when Florence was two-years old. Her maternal grandparents and beloved Aunt Minnie (Dick) helped to raise and nurture her. Florence was a devoted wife to her late husbands, Harold Bill of Stoke-On-Trent, England, and Frank Reuter.
