Fluvanna girls fall to the Black Knights 44-41

With both teams pressing most of the game, there was a lot of up and down action on Jan. 15 when the Fluvanna girls’ basketball team hosted their Jefferson District rival, The Black Knights from Charlottesville High. After an evenly matched first half, the Black Knights eased ahead in the third quarter and held on to win 44-41. Fluco junior guard Kiana Childress turned in an outstanding performance, hitting for 21 points, more than half her team’s total. Coach Chad White noted after the game that “she has been doing that for us all season”.

In an intensely contested game the Flying Flucos boys' basketball team won the opener of Fluco Christmas Bash tournament tonight (Dec. 30), topping The Fuqua School 48-41.

Young Fluco wrestlers compete in ten team event at Stuarts Draft

The Fluco wrestling team has a new coach this year for the second year in a row. Coach Michael Gore has taken the reins for the 2013-2014 season, and he has a squad of 21 wrestlers, only three of whom are seniors. He has six juniors, two sophomores, six freshmen, and four 8th graders who are too young to compete in varsity events.

On Dec. 21 the Fluco wrestlers traveled to Stuarts Draft High School to compete in a ten team event. At this event, a number of wrestlers turned in outstanding performances.
