Fluvanna residents graduate from Virginia Tech

First Lady Michelle Obama and U.S. Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., addressed Virginia Tech’s Class of 2012 during university commencement exercises.

Jason Focht of Palmyra received a Bachelor of Science degree in crop and soil environmental sciences from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences;

Jonathan Kelly of Palmyra received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences;

Robert Lawson of Troy received a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental policy and planning from the College of Architecture and Urban Studies;

Laura Schermerhorn of Troy received a Bachelor of Science degree in building construction from the College of Architecture and Urban Studies;

Brittney Hopkins of Troy received a Master of Science degree in Fisheries and Wildlife from the College of Natural Resources and Environment;

John Shuman of Fork Union received a Master of Arts in Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
