Combined Cycle Journal’s Best Practices Awards program recognizes the valuable contributions made by plant staff and headquarters engineering and asset-management personnel to strengthen the performance of gas turbine-based generating facilities. Tenaska Virginia was honored for safety innovations to enhance lighting inside the turbine compartments for maintenance. In the O&M category, plant employees upgraded systems to continue notifying the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) of any change in plant status that might affect power system reliability in a timely manner. NERC is a self-regulatory organization that ensures the reliability of the power system.
“Our employees remain committed to safety, innovation and efficiency, which puts our plant in the top tier nationally and at the forefront of providing reliable power to our customers and the homes and businesses they serve,” said Robert Mayfield, plant manager. “We’re proud of their work and are pleased that our industry has recognized them once again.”
