In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil August Black; a son, Joseph C. Black; two brothers, Vanzy L. Wood Jr. and William C. Wood; and a sister, Polly Wood Miller.
Mrs. Black was a member of Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She loved keeping house, sewing and quilting, canning and baking.
Survivors include a son, Fred Black and his wife, Carolyn, of Palmyra; five grandchildren; Chris Black, Lorie Bostian, Jenifer Reinhart, Sara Black & Emily Black; twelve great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Monticello Memory Gardens by Greg Bostian.
There was no formal visitation. However, those desiring to view did so on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home.
