Farquharson

In an interview with the Fluvanna Review, Farquharson said: “Right now it appears that I am a screaming maniac,” said Farquharson.  “But I want you to know that I’ve been in this since 1991.  There are so many times I could have veered off to do something else, but I do this because of the satisfaction of knowing that each day a kid gets something that is a building block to their success.”

A social media fury erupted last week when middle school students came home reporting to their parents that Farquharson yelled at them, held fifth graders back from recess, and denied students opportunities to use the bathroom or go to the nurses office.  Parents filled last week’s school board meeting and an administrative meet and greet to complain.

Farquharson ended up spending most of her first week of school meeting with concerned parents.  She’s been impressed with the response of the community, both to rally to the cause, and to admit mistakes. — Read the rest of the story in the upcoming issue of the Fluvanna Review
