Pairs of workers took sections of the road and collected dozens of bags of trash. This is a semi-annual event by the volunteers that maintains the appearance of the gardens around Lake Monticello. The volunteers donned fashionable orange vests for the occasion. The consensus of the volunteers was that people, including children, need to be taught not to litter. —Contributed by Susan Wolff
