The win for Monticello was surely a Mustang miracle. With 17 seconds left in regulation, Fluco freshman post player Aamir Simms sank two free throws to give the Flucos a six point lead at 48-42. Monticello hustled down and drilled a three-point shot with 11 seconds left. They then forced a turnover and sank a desperation three from the corner to tie the game at the buzzer. In ensuing over time, it was Monticello 5 and Fluvanna 2. The Flucos are out of the Jefferson district playoffs, but the new Conference 23 tournament starts next week with the Flucos hosting Amherst on Feb.18. – Duncan Nixon
