It also voted to name three local businesses to be recognized by the Virginia School Board Association. Those businesses are E.W. Thomas’ Store, Papa John’s and All America Car Wash.
Bus schedule
The new bus schedule calls for Central and West Central Primary unloading at 7:45 a.m. and an afternoon load time at 3:10 p.m.
Carysbrook Elementary and the Fluanna Middle School unload time is set for 7:25 a.m. and end-of-day load time will be 2:45 p.m.
The high school will start later. Morning unload time is scheduled for 8:20 a.m. and afternoon load time will be 3:45.
The Board undertook the change to shorten some students’ ride time.
The adopted 2014 – 2015 schedule includes the following important dates:
• Aug. 11 – first day;
• Nov. 26, 27, 28 – Thanksgiving holiday;
• Dec. 19 – early dismissal begins winter break;
• Jan. 5 – students return from winter break;
• Spring break from March 30 through April 3;
• May 22 – last day of school;
• May 23 – graduation.
Lunch prices will increase by five cents for the 2014 – 2015 school year. Elementary students’ lunch will be $2.30 while middle and high school students’ lunch will be $2.55.
