In order to earn All-State honors, individual athletes and relay teams had to place in the top eight overall. The following athletes earned All-State honors:
Deiondre Key – 2nd place Discus and 3rd place shot put;
Miah Perch – 2nd place high jump;
Avery Haislip – 6th place in pole vault;
Erin Blackburn – 5th place pole vault;
Hannah Meador – 4A state champion in pole vault.
Hannah has been state champion in pole vault all four years of her high school career and indoor pole vault state champion for three years of her high school career. Her freshman year she won 2nd place in the pole vault after a vault off. She was this year’s overall 4A Female Athlete of the Year. Other athletes that had good results at the state meet were Matt Jonkman in pole vault and Kashawn Anderson in high jump. Both of the boys placed 9th in the state meet, only one place out of All-State honors. The girls track team finished 9th overall at the state meet and the boys team finished 18th overall. –– Coach Tom Casto
