Hurdle, 15, who began training for diving last year as a freshman, won the 4 A State championship to become the state’s diving champ.
Lydia Reynard, also a sophomore, finished a close second. Lucas Reynard, a senior, placed sixth in the boy’s division.
Anna is the daughter of Jay and Lisa Hurdle of Lake Monticello. Lucas and Lydia are the children of Don and Patricia Reynard of Broken Island.
The competition was held at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in southwestern Virginia.
Initially scheduled for Thursday, the meet was postponed until Friday because of weather concerns. The 4A ran concurrently with the 3A championships.

Caylyn McNaul, Breast, in Medley;
Fefe Nardone, Fly, in Medley;
Lauren Cabrera, Free, in Medley;
Girls 200 Medley Relay placed 8th;
Girls 200 Free Relay placed 8th;
Fe Fe Nardone 100 Fly placed 12th.
Caylyn McNaul placed 7th in the 100 Breast stroke.
The girls finished 10th place out of 24.

Maddie Messier, Caylyn McNaul, Fefe Nardone and Lauren Cabrera are the members of both relays.
Fefe Nardone also qualified in the 100 fly and Caylyn McNaul in the 100 Breast;
Michael Difazio did an outstanding job in the 100 back placing 6th and hitting the state qualifying time;
Lucas Reynard, Anna Hurdle and Lydia Reynard are also moving on in Dive;
Kaitlin Presley and Miriam Lokits will serve as alternates on the relays.
