Tell us about one of your interests.
I find great joy in sharing music with others on a regular basis through piano playing and singing.
My church, Beaver Dam Baptist, has a number of ministries in place for its members to take advantage of. One of them is the “Mercy/Tender Hearts” ministerial team. Our responsibilities are to be there for those in need by visiting people in the hospital, recovering patients at home, or the homebound. In addition, we visit nursing homes and assisted living facilities on a regular basis. Some might remember that our friend and WWII veteran, Luther Payne, was someone we met in a nursing home. After a long process, and with the help of the entire community and our church, Luther finally received a full military funeral that he so deserved.
Describe one of the highlights of your life.
There are so many I would be hard-pressed to pick only one. But the one that pops into my head immediately would definitely be when I was blessed with two very special sons. I would be remiss if I didn’t say that knowing my Lord has not only been a highlight in my life but it has been a life-changing experience.
Describe one of the biggest surprises of your life.
To finally learn and understand that real love, compassion and peace come from a higher source – our heavenly father.
Describe one of the tragedies/struggles of your life.
Not to be repetitive, but I would find it hard to mention only one. But the loss of my husband has been very hard.
Describe a dream you have for your future.
To be around so I can enjoy the experience of seeing my family succeed and be happy. What a blessing I’ve already experienced as each grandchild and each great-grandchild has come into our lives.
Describe a fear you have for your future.
I don’t have any great fear. I pray that my faith and trust in my God will be my strength to face anything I might have to face in the future.
Here’s your chance to sound off. If you could give one public service announcement or word of advice to the public at large, what would it be?
Realize that there is a higher source, God, who has an unconditional love and compassion, beyond our comprehension, for each of his children. Trust him!
