Donald Martin Wheeler (1933-2017)

Don WheelerDonald Martin Wheeler was born Sept. 16, 1933, in South Africa and went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2017.

He lived a full life. He served on the Rhodesian border as a soldier and owned a 30-foot yacht in which he traveled up and down the Mozambique border teaching sailing and adventure to tourists. He was also a pilot, banker, real estate broker, and owned his own successful real estate company. He also received his Natal colors for rowing. He built his own canoe, raced it and won the States award.

He met and married Lorraine while working on a project in a gold mining town selling houses that belonged to the gold mine.

He married Lorraine in 1997 and leaves behind children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Together they have a blended family: seven beautiful children and 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He left South Africa in 2000 and made Virginia his home, joining Monticello Country Realtors (MCR) till his retirement two years ago.

He loved people and loved working at MCR, but his greatest passion was his faith, together with Lorraine, whom he adored.

He loved God and was always so kind and giving to others. He is really missed by all who knew him.

His memorial service will be on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, to celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Calvary Chapel of Fluvanna or Charlottesville House of Prayer.

The memorial service will be a celebration of his life. Family would love to hear how he touched the lives of those he came in contact with.
