Donald Minor, 85, of Palmyra, Va., died on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va.
Born February 21, 1932, in Long Branch, N.J., he was the son of James Minor and Rose Woolley.
He spent 30 years in the USAF and retired as Master Sergeant. Following his military service, he worked for the USPS in Jackson, N.J., for 28 years.
He is survived by his wife, Benita; his son, Gary Minor and his wife, Debbie; his daughter, Sandy Minor McKay, and her husband, Scott; his son, Donald Minor, and his wife, Elizabeth; his daughter, Michelle Burke, and her husband, Steve; stepson, Anton Nelsen, and his wife, Darlene; stepson, Lars Nelsen, and stepson, David Straub. He was the loving grandfather and great-grandfather to 21 children and young adults. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah, and his former wife, Mildred Chvedinich.
He requested no service or memorials and wanted to encourage others to consider donations to the Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire & Rescue, Inc., 10 Slice Road, Palmyra, Va. 22963, or their favorite charity.
