Dorothy Catherine Eggar Engler, 98, of Lake Monticello, Va., passed away at Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.
Born October 27, 191
9, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late William George Eggar and Rosella E. (Soloman) Eggar. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Engler, Sr.
Dorothy worked for the Brooklyn Hospital for many years as the director of payroll. She was always active in the Methodist Church and was a member of the Eastern Star. As her children were growing up, she was very active in the PTA, Boys and Girls Scouts, and other activities.
She is survived by her three children, Robert F. Engler, Jr., and wife Diane, Jene C. Romeo and husband Vincent, and Ann-Marie Schare and husband Peter; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Westminster Canterbury at a later date.
