The Virginia High School League (VHSL) announced July 17 Fluvanna County High School is one of 24 high schools in the state to have won the annual Claudia Dodson Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Award. The award is presented to member high schools that have established policies and procedures that make sportsmanship a priority and an expectation. VHSL Assistant Director Chris Robinson said that this is an important award because it is “our only award that the entire school is graded on.”
Schools that have had two or more ejections during a year are not eligible for this award. Each school that has been selected for the award was required to have three recommendations from schools that they compete against on a regular basis. This is the first time Fluvanna County High has won this award. Other local high schools to win the award this year are Monticello High and Madison County High.
