John “Jack” Donnelly

John J. “Jack” Donnelly, of White Plains, formerly of Charlottesville, Va., and Mamaroneck, passed away July 31, 2018, at age 87.

He was born in the Bronx Nov. 5, 1930, the son of John and Nellie (Ryan) Donnelly. John graduated from St. Simon Stock High School, and proudly served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge, he began a career with the U.S. Postal Service. Jack served many positions from NYC to Larchmont and retired as the Postmaster of the Village of Mamaroneck in 1986.

After retirement, he and his wife moved to Lake Monticello, Va., and later to Charlottesville. The circle of life completed for Jack as he returned to Westchester in his later years. He was an active member of Most Holy Trinity Church years back where he served as a CCD Teacher. Jack also coached and managed Larchmont Little League for many years and was Past Commander of American Legion Post 347 in Larchmont. He currently belongs to the American Post in Fork Union, Va., and the Knights of Columbus, which is associated with Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Palmyra, Va., where he was a member for 25 years.

In August of 1957, he married his beloved wife, Edna (nee Eschbach) at Sts. John & Paul, Larchmont. In addition to his wife, he is survived by cherished children, Kevin Donnelly and Ellen Donnelly (Roxanne Rorick), dear grandson, Connor Donnelly, and many nieces and nephews.

To honor Jack’s life, family and friends gathered Friday, Aug. 3 from 4-8 p.m. at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home located at 767 E. Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck. The phone number is 914-698-5968. A funeral mass took place Saturday, Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, White Plains followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
