Marilyn Ann (Sperber) Carney, 85, of Palmyra, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at her home.
She was born on March 10, 1933, in Door County Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Herbert and Anna (Wagner) Sperber.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Christin Carney Moore; two sisters; and a brother.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne, of Palmyra; two children, Mitchell Carney and wife Kate, of Boonsboro, Md., and Linda Carney Wyndham and husband Chris, of Lynchburg; five grandchildren; and a number of other extended family members and friends.
We will always remember her for her welcoming spirit and engaging smile. She was dedicated to her family and friends who characterized her as a genuine friend. Deeply loved by her children and grandchildren who called her Nonni. We will miss her and know ever faithful to her God she is at peace.
Marilyn retired from the U.S. government, where she had served as a secretary for the Department of the Army. She was a founding member of Grace and Glory Lutheran Church, where she was involved in many ways. She was a member of various civic organizations, and enjoyed watercolor painting and organizing activities for us.
A memorial service was conducted Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Grace and Glory Lutheran Church by Pastor Kenneth Albright. Following a light luncheon at the church, inurnment took place at Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville.
