A cryptic social media message caused Fluvanna County Public Schools to cancel after school activities and events Tuesday evening (Nov. 20).
The message posted on social media read, “I’m going to Fluvanna ace hood school shooting.” Deputies were notified of the posting by several sources at around 5 p.m., according to a Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Deputies were sent to several Fluvanna schools to provide extra security for the evening, according to the release. The schools sent a message at 5:23 p.m. canceling all after school activities. Thanksgiving break began for students after school Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office believes that the post originated outside of Fluvanna County, according to the release. Deputies have asked law enforcement from the location in question to attempt to find the poster.
“There are no direct known threats to the schools at this time,” the release stated Tuesday evening.
