Charles Wesley “Chuck” Allbaugh, Sr.

Charles Wesley “Chuck” Allbaugh, Sr., age 75, of Lone Rock, Wis., died Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at home, lovingly surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 12, 1943, in Gillingham, Wis., the son of Silas Herbert and Bernice Mae (Reid) Allbaugh. Chuck married Cheryl Strine on June 12, 1976, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Richland Center, Wis.

Chuck was a kind and gentle man who lived life to its fullest every day. He was rarely without a smile or warm greeting, making friends wherever he went. He was known to say, “Strangers are only friends we haven’t met yet.” He spent many years singing in bands and playing his guitar with all that would have him. He loved surprising Cheryl by buying toys throughout the years, such as UTVs, ATVs, motorcycles and cars. Chuck loved Wisconsin sports and spent his time cheering from the comfort of his couch, remote firmly gripped in his hand. He also enjoyed bowling and vacationing with his family, and watching his treasured grandchildren at their sporting events, concerts and recitals.

He is survived by eldest son Charles Allbaugh, Jr., and grandchildren Tygh, Carter and Ethan of Palmyra, Va. He is also survived by family in Wisconsin: adoring wife Cheryl; children Michael Allbaugh, Julie Meinen and Liz Perkins; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Dwight Allbaugh; and countless relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

A celebration of Chuck’s life was held Tuesday, May 21, 2019, in Richland Center, Wis., after which veteran-members of the American Legion Post 383 provided moving military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made via Clary Memorial Funeral Home to support Grace, a Wisconsin music program, or the town’s aquatic center, where Chuck is honored as a valuable community member.
