A child brandished a firearm on a school bus after school Wednesday (May 1), according to the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office.
Fluvanna County Public Schools contacted the sheriff’s office around 3:30 p.m. Deputies responded, located the child and his or her parents, and found that the child did not in fact have a firearm but rather an air pistol that looked like a firearm, according to a sheriff’s office press release.
There are no direct known threats to the schools at this time. The matter has been referred to the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice Court Service Unit, according to the release.
The sheriff’s office will release no further information as this incident involves a juvenile.
