Oliver-Hyland announces run for treasurer

Press release

Wife, mother and small horse farm owner Kim OliverHyland officially announced her candidacy to become Fluvanna County treasurer and has filed all necessary paperwork with the registrar to appear on the ballot in November.

“Fluvanna County citizens deserve a treasurer’s office that is accountable to the taxpayers of Fluvanna County and that operates with integrity, efficiency and fairness,” Hyland stated. Citizens from one end of the county to the other are demanding integrity and transparency in the office; efficiency and modernization in the collection of your tax dollars; and fairness in the treatment of all citizens. The treasurer’s office should be an integral part of a well-run county, lending itself to a more efficient local government. I believe that I am uniquely qualified to return those core values to the treasurer’s office and run an office that will work for you.”

Hyland is a graduate of George Mason University, where she majored in international relations. She possesses a strong resume – working as a defense contractor and finance manager, managing multimillion dollar accounts before later becoming a realtor and insurance broker. After starting a family, Hyland followed her dream of raising Chincoteague ponies and began participating in competitive reining with her two quarter horses. Hyland and her family live on a small horse farm in the Cunningham District where they are restoring their farmhouse, built in 1896.
