The Lake Monticello Fire Department will be holding its annual Remembrance and Tributeceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m. in honor of those who perished in the terror attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, in the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and in the fields of Shankesville, Pennsylvania, that fateful and sorrowful day. The ceremony will be held at the Community 9/11 Memorial Garden, located at the Lake Monticello firehouse at 10 Slice Road in Palmyra.
Additionally, the fire department will honor the members of the Lake Monticello Fire and Rescue who were killed in the line of duty while serving the residents of Fluvanna County in 1989and U.S. Navy Seaman Dakota Rigsby, of the Lake Monticello Fire Department, who was killed while serving on board of the U.S.S. Fitzgerald.
All members of the community are welcome to join in this tribute and share in the remembrance for all those individuals who were killed and the sacrifices they made.
Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
