The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office has released the first details on a homicide that occurred at Lake Monticello on Tuesday evening (Oct. 29).

Dispatchers received a disturbance call for a residence on Axle Tree Road at 8:06 pm. When units arrived on the scene, they found three males at the house: Benjamin J. Camp, 37, Joshua C. Benthan-Ball, 44, and Jason J. Ferren, 36.

According to Captain David Wells, Ferren sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue crews.

In a press release, Wells said Camp was believed to be staying at the residence and that all three men knew each other, but could not provide any details on what lead to the shooting.

After their initial investigation, Camp was arrested for second-degree murders and Bentham-Ball was arrested for burglary.

Ferren’s body has been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond.

Camp and Bentham-Ball are being held without bond at Central Virginia Regional Jail and will be arraigned on Monday, Nov. 4, at 9 am.
