A Fluvanna woman has been charged with the murder of her daughter who died in 2018.
Suzanne Ruth Mirsky was arrested on Feb. 24 on a charge of murder in connection with the death of Kayla Mirsky, 19, who died on Dec. 12 of 2018, according to a press release from the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office.
Suzanne Mirsky is also charged with four counts of felony child abuse and two counts of animal cruelty, according to the release.
The indictments came after the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office presented evidence to the Fluvanna County Circuit Court Grand Jury relating to the death of Kayla Mirsky who died while in the care of her mother.
The indictments stemmed from a 13-month investigation into the death and other events in the Mirsky home by sheriff’s investigators, according to the release. During the investigation, evidence was obtained to support the charges of murder, child abuse, and animal cruelty, the release stated.
Suzanne Mirsky’s next court appearance is set for March 27 at 10 a.m. in Fluvanna County Circuit Court.
