Patricia A. Bellows, 85, of Palmyra, Virginia, died Sunday, February 9, 2020 at the Laurels of Charlottesville.
She was the daughter of the late Francis Raymond Roughan and Matilda Mary Shaner, and was the wife of the late Leslie D. Bellows.
Born in Staten Island, New York, she was a graduate of New Dorp High School and the Katherine Gibbs School. She was a resident of Sudbury, Massachusetts for over 40 years where she raised six children and was an active member in the community. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church. Mrs. Bellows served as a Troop Leader and Den Mother for the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years.
She served as Chairman of the Concord Chapter of the American Red Cross and was a Certified Instructor. She was a member of the New England Area National Ski Patrol System. Mrs. Bellows established a home computer business which she ran successfully for many years. She was a founding member of the Massachusetts Society of Genealogists and continued her interest in family history throughout her life. She was skilled at needlecrafts including knit, crochet, tatting, cross stitch and dress making. Crafts were her passion.
After the death of her husband, Mrs. Bellows moved to Venice, Florida where she became a lifetime member of the Venice Florida Civic Association. Her final residence was at Lake Monticello in Palmyra, Virginia.
Survivors include three sons: Kevin M. Bellows, David B. Bellows, and Bruce J. Bellows; three daughters: Leslie C. Carter, Kathy A. Petell, and Mary E. Rheaume; 10 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
A gathering of friends and family celebrating Patricia’s life will be held on Saturday, March 21, at 9 a.m. at Thacker Brothers Lake Monticello Funeral Home, 138 Heritage Drive, Palmyra, Virginia 22963. A private dispersal ceremony for the family is planned at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Caring for Creatures Palmyra, or USO can be made in her name.
