The Fluvanna Review won three Virginia Press Association (VPA) awards for its news coverage and advertising design in 2019.
Editorial designer Amelia McConnell won first place in page design. Advertising designer Lynn Stayton-Eurell won first place in the advertising/real estate category and former editor Christina Dimeo, who left the paper in August of last year, won third place in government writing.
The Fluvanna Review has now won 91 VPA awards since 2010.
“I’m proud of my staff and of the newspaper,” said publisher Carlos Santos. “Amelia has a great eye for layout and works accurately and quickly. Lynn’s designs are always eye-catching and Christina brought depth to news reporting.
“The staff, including all our reporters, designers and salespeople, work hard each week to produce a lively, informative newspaper,” Santos said. “Like all newspapers, like all small businesses, we are struggling from the fallout of the pandemic. But each week we do our best. I can’t ask for more than that.”
The Fluvanna Review competed against other non-dailies with circulations ranging between 3,500 and 6,999.
