Press release
The Fluvanna County Republican Committee (FCRC) opened its 2020 campaign office at 106 Crofton Plaza in Palmyra on Saturday, Aug. 29.
Law enforcement officers, on hand for traffic control, estimated a turnout of 300 people who came by to show their support. Attendees were able to purchase Trump 2020 campaign materials from the Trump bus. Owned by business owner, Jim McKelvey, his Trump bus became popular during the 2016 election as it traveled throughout Virginia and the Carolinas. Visitors to the new Republican office enjoyed hot dogs, soft drinks and delicious home-made pies.
The campaign office will serve as a place for dissemination of campaign literature and signs as well as phone banking, voter registration and coordination of volunteer activities that will take place on election day.
Darrell Byers, chairman of FCRC, said, “I am very pleased with the turnout and the grassroots efforts that are needed to support our candidates on November 3.” He also added that this office space will be utilized to register and energize the younger base.
As the bus was rolling away and the crowd was heading home, Byers stated, “Let me be unequivocal in this, I feel a groundswell in our beloved county, and it makes me excited!”
