Lake golf course to host Peggy Kirk Bell Commonwealth Classic

Press release

The Lake Monticello Gof Course – featuring the Buddy Loving-designed layout just southeast of Charlottesville on scenic Lake Monticello – is set to host the 2021 Peggy Kirk Bell Commonwealth Classic from March 20 – 21.

The Commonwealth Classic will feature a 36-hole competition and award the top-four finishers in both “Bell National” and “Futures National” divisions. It will be the third time Lake Monticello has hosted a Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour (PKBGT) event. The PKBGT is an initiative of the non-profit Girls Golf of America. Their mission is to provide cost-conscious access to golf with a specific focus on girl’s golf development in partnership with LPGA-USGA Girls Golf.
2020-21 is the 15th season of the PKBGT. Participation on the tour has grown to over 950 members with multi-day events regularly featuring between 60 to 90 girls for 9, 18, 36 and 54-hole tournaments open to girls ages 9 to 18.

“We are honored to host the Commonwealth Classic and these inspiring young ladies,” says Mark Marshall, director of golf at Lake Monticello Golf Course. “The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour includes some of the brightest young talent from around the country and we’ll be ready to showcase the best version of our layout in March.”
