It is with much sadness to announce the passing of Walter C. Hartwell on April 15, 2021 in his home in Palmyra, VA (Lake Monticello) after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer. He is proceeded in death by his father Charles O. Hartwell and survived by his three boys: Justin Hartwell of Charlottesville, VA; Rhett (Ashton) Hartwell of Largo, FL, and Treavor Hartwell of New Orleans, LA and their mother Pauline L. (Hartwell) Waguespack of New Orleans, LA. Also surviving his death are his mother, Anita Dias, siblings Lauren (Bill) Fowler and Lise (Chris) Cameron, Carl Harwell and many nieces and nephews.
Walter was born and raised in New Orleans, LA and moved with his family to Lake Monticello in 1998 and enjoyed a long career in the automotive industry in many facets, roles, and positions. He loved fishing, Saints football, and cooking but most of all supporting and cheering on his boys in athletics — notably swimming. He was a board member for the JSL, FAST and LMST swim teams and a regular meet official. With his wit and dry sense of humor, he was loved by all his friends and co-workers, always leaving a long-lasting impression.
Most importantly and lasting Walter was a loving and supportive father and will be truly missed.
