Candidate for Cunningham School Board seat

Eric Anderson is a candidate for the Fluvanna School Board. He is running against incumbent Charles Rittenhouse who is vying for his third term.

Anderson was out of town and couldn’t respond to the questions asked of the candidates whose answers ran in last week’s edition of the paper.

Here are his answers.

Why did you decide to run?

“We have a great opportunity here in the county to come back from the COVID crisis to a better place than we were before. To cope with the pandemic, we made an investment in technology and connectivity, and we have developed skills in teachers, staff, and students. I want to see us continue to grow and develop in these areas. My background as an engineer and an educator has prepared me to understand how these tools can be used to improve outcomes and efficiency, but also to know where the traditional methods are still best. I look forward to working with our new superintendent to develop strategies for preparing our students for their lives in the 21st century.”

What is your platform?

My goals on the School Board would be to:

  1. Provide all Fluvanna County students with the education they need to succeed;
  2. Ensure a safe and healthy learning environment;
  3. Attract, support, and retain high-quality teachers and support staff;
  4. Build on our pandemic experience to move instructional technology forward;
  5. Operate in a cost-effective manner.
