Joseph Albert Arleth, 89, of Lake Monticello, Virginia, formerly of Staten Island, N.Y. passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2021. Joseph was born to Mary and Joseph Arleth on August 11, 1932, in Richmond Hill, New York. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Catherine “Betty” Arleth; son James and daughter in-law, Jennifer Aspell; son, Stephen and daughter in-law Doreen; daughter Mary and son in-law James Kearney; and ten beloved grandchildren, Gregory, Joshua, Paul, Gillian, Rebecca, Charles, Matthew, Caleb, Elaine and Christopher.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, he worked for N.Y. Telephone/AT & T/ Lucent Tech in New York City for over 30 years before retiring and relocating to Lake Monticello. He was a loving husband, trustworthy friend, amazing father, a very proud Pop Pop. He enjoyed playing golf, baseball, and spending time gardening with his wife.
The visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Saint Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Palmyra, Virginia followed by a Mass of Resurrection, which will be at 11 a.m. by Father Brian Capuano. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
