GERALD “Gerry” RUSSELL BROWN, JR.

Gerry Brown was born on Aug. 18, 1939, in Houston Texas. He died on Feb. 2, 2022, in Crozet, Virginia.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cynthia “Cindy” Brown, in Palmyra, VA; a son Russell Brown from Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter Susan Pluta, from Kansas City, KS; a daughter Lisa Brown, from Irving TX; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was known by many as a kind man who loved helping people. Music was so special to him and harmony would light him up, so he sang at Beargrass Christian Church in Louisville Ky until 2002 when he moved to Virginia and sang at Palmyra United Methodist Choir in Palmyra, VA. Singing was his key to happiness.

He was always building something and was a perfectionist. You can see his woodwork projects at his home, at the church, at a farm he worked at for many years, and many neighbors’ and friends’ homes.

He was a Texas gentleman, whose handshake was as good as a lawyer’s contract. You could count on him if he said he was going to do something – you knew it would be done right. He will be missed but the memories of him will bring a smile to many.

A memorial service will be held on April 30, 2022 at 3 PM at Palmyra United Methodist church. Supper and socializing following the service in the Fellowship Hall.  Instead of flowers, Gerry loved dogs and music. so donating to Caring for Creatures, the FSPCA or the Choir at PUMC would be appreciated.
