The Lake Monticello Fire Department and Rescue Squad invites the public to attend the 21st anniversary “Remembrance and Tribute” ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 3 p.m.

“We honor those who perished in the terror attacks on our great nation, at the World Trade Center in New York City; the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.; and in the fields of Shanksville, Pennsylvania, that fateful and sorrowful day,” Lake Monticello Fire Chief Richie Constantino said.

“We will also honor the members of Lake Monticello Fire and Rescue who were killed in the line of duty while serving the residents of Fluvanna County in 1989 and U.S. Navy Seaman Dakota Rigsby, of the Lake Monticello Fire Department, who was killed while serving our great nation on board the U.S.S. Fitzgerald, in the Sea of Japan,” Constantino added.

The observance ceremony will be held at the Community 9/11 Memorial Garden, located at the Lake Monticello Firehouse located at 10 Slice Rd. in Palmyra. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
