It is always a happy afternoon when high school athletes sit down and sign to play their sport at the college level. On Nov. 8, Fluco softball catcher Braelyn Via and Fluco baseball pitcher J.J. Glasscock were the Fluco athletes committing to continue to play at the college level. Glasscock will pitch at the Division 1 level for the Mountaineers of West Virginia University, a school that now plays in the Big Twelve Conference.

Via has signed to play for Carson-Newman University which is an NCAA Division II school. The Eagles play in the Southern Athletic Conference, which consists of a number of small private schools such as Catawba University, Limestone University and Emory & Henry University.

Both of these athletes will be hard for the Flucos to replace.
