Fuller wins Silver twice at States

The Fluvanna County High school swim team made a splash at the State Meet in Richmond on Friday, Feb. 17.  Eight competitors battled it out for a chance to represent at the podium ceremony.  Sophomore Alex Fuller won silver in her 50 freestyle with a time of 23.47.  She made her way back to the podium winning silver in the 100-yard butterfly with an All-American time of 54.23!  This marks her in 41st place in the nation for her age group and gained her a new FCHS record!  

The 200-yard freestyle relay consisting of Fuller, Sophie Pace, Brenna Rea and Reese Yowell earned themselves an 8th place finish and a trip to the podium with a time of 1:45.59.  

Our lone male swimmer, Senior Jackson Kinsella, did a great job and placed 11th in the 100 freestyle.

Finishing in 12th place was the 200 medley relay with swimmers Abbie Ford, Alex Fuller, Sophie Pace and Reese Yowell.  Our 400-free relay earned a 13th place finish and consisted of Vaile Altherr, Abbie Ford, Marley Rochester and Sophie Pace.   

Four divers placed at the state meet with some wonderful performances.  The divers and their placements are: Ethan McPherson, who took 7th place, Sarah Beth Robinson at 8th place, Ivan Patchett at 9th place and Ashlyn Wolkowicz at 11th place.  

Overall, the girls finished 11th in the state and the boys finished 23rd.
