Press Release
Fork Union Military Academy announced that LTC Roy A. “Tony” Moss, United States Army (Ret.), will be retiring as Commandant of Cadets at the conclusion of this school year. Charlie E. Coulter III has been selected to serve as Fork Union Military Academy’s next Commandant of Cadets.
LTC Moss joined the Fork Union Military Academy staff as Chief Financial Officer in 2018 and moved to the position of Commandant of Cadets in 2019. Prior to coming to Fork Union, Moss had served 21 years on active duty with the U.S. Army, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. LTC Moss is stepping down after five years with the Academy so that he might have more time with his family and provide care for a family member currently battling a serious illness.
“We are thankful to Tony for his service to our school and our cadets following his years of service to our nation,” said Colonel David L. Coggins, the president of Fork Union Military Academy. “Our prayers go with him as he continues his life of service to others, committing his time and care to his family’s needs in this moment. We have complete confidence moving forward with the proven leadership shown by Charlie Coulter, and we look forward to the work he will do with our Corps of Cadets in the coming months.”
Coulter served 20 years on active duty with the United States Marine Corps, retiring at the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. Throughout his active-duty military career, Coulter served in various units, including one combat deployment to Iraq and two combat deployments to Afghanistan. He was also deployed twice as part of the 22nd and 24th (Special Operations Capable – SOC) Marine Expeditionary Units.
