Joan Ann Hansen, of Palmyra, VA, passed away April 17, 2023, and is now resting peacefully with her beloved husband, Fred.
Joan was born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 23, 1939, to Antoinette and Peter DeGiglio. Joan graduated high school from Fontbonne Hall Academy in Brooklyn and went on to further her education in health sciences earning a degree in nursing and a career as a Registered Nurse.
Joan married her husband Fred in 1970 and spent the next 46 years together ultimately retiring in Lake Monticello, Virginia. Joan, along with her husband Fred, enjoyed travel, golf and time spent with friends, family and her grandchildren.
Loved by her family, Joan leaves behind two children, Renee Turcott (husband Joseph), Peter Beanland (wife Amy) and five grandchildren, James (wife Jamile), Dylan and Olivia Turcott and Grace and Luke Beanland and a step-son, Wayne Hansen.
Following a funeral mass being celebrated at 11:00 on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Palmyra, VA, Joan will be laid to rest at Monticello Memorial Gardens.
