Dick was born on December 1, 1944, in Ashtabula, OH. He graduated from Edgewood High School, and with honors from Kent State University. He completed his MBA at Case Western Reserve University. He married Beverly Sandfield June 11, 1966. After several years of courageously fighting prostate cancer, he passed away peacefully on March 28, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents Ella May Bucci and Anthony Bucci, and his son, Ken Bucci. He is survived by his wife Beverly Bucci of Lake Monticello; brother Fred Bucci of Conneaut, OH; daughter, Connie and her husband Steven Trider of Santa Barbara, CA; daughter-in-law, Susie Bucci of Charlottesville, VA, and grandchildren Bridget and Breeze Bucci and Taylor and Tanner Trider who referred to him as “Papa.” Papa taught his children and grandchildren to persevere, never give up, stay positive and to always appreciate the simple things in life. He would give the shirt off of his back and we will forever remember his big smile and heart!
After college, Dick entered the telecommunications industry. He and Bev lived many places where he held executive-level positions in sales, marketing, and public relations. He was a skilled and prolific writer of many published papers and was the recipient of several professional awards.
He was an active member of Palmyra and Lake Monticello interest groups such as the Fishing Club, Fluvanna County Democratic Committee, Progressive Men’s Club and Miata Club. He was a member of the Fluvanna County Chamber of Commerce.
The family would like to thank Dr. Erin McLoughlin for her compassionate care until his death and numerous friends who have helped.
The service will be held Monday July 3 at 1 p.m. at Palmyra United Methodist Church (PUMC).
