Sheriff’s Office searching for suspects after Fluvanna man fatally shot

Fluvanna County Sheriff’s deputies responded Sunday (August 20) around 3 a.m. to a residence in the 3700 block of Ridge Road for a report that an individual had been shot, according to a press release.

Deputies arrived, located the victim, and began lifesaving efforts. Members of the Fluvanna County Rescue Squad and Fire Department also responded to provide aid. Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and 43-year-old Johnnie Antoine Brown was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the press release. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond for an autopsy.

A limited suspect description was provided by an eyewitness, who reported there were multiple suspects in a two-door car. The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office is asking that anyone with information contact the Sheriff’s Office and provide any information they may have.

At this time, the Sheriff’s Office does not believe there to be an on-going threat to the general public.
