Ten-year-old Ionica O. Barcelona, the daughter of Judy M. Obliosca and Roberto Barcelona, was crowned the 2023 National Miss Virginia Jr. Pre-Teen queen at the state pageant held Aug. 12 at the Hyatt Regency in Reston. She also received an invitation to compete at the national pageant to be held Thanksgiving week in Orlando, Fla. Ionica also received the Heart of Service award (winner); Runway Model (winner); Best Thank You Note to Sponsors (winner), Best Art (1st runner up), and Best Resume (1st runner up). The National American Miss Pageants emphasizes the importance of self-confidence, learning new skills, and setting and achieving personal goals. The pageant awards $1.5 million in cash, scholarships and prizes.
