Fluco indoor track and field Coach Melanie Kennedy took a significant contingent of athletes to the state meet held on Feb. 26.  A host of school records were broken as the Flucos performed extremely well.

Over 30 schools competed and the Flucos turned in school record performances in two relay competitions. The girls 4X800 team finished third in a school record time of 9:37.22. This team consisted of seniors Sydney Chipperfield and Sophie Farley, junior Anna Amato and sophomore Ruby Frazier.

These young women also performed well in individual events. Farley finished second in the 1000 meter race, and sixth in the grueling 3200 meter run. She set new school records in both races and although second in the 1000 meter, her time was faster than the state meet record, going into the event. Frazier finished third in the 1600 meter and seventh in the 3200 meter. Her time of 5:08.62 in the 1600 meter (metric mile) was a new school record. Amato also performed well with a seventh in the 1600 meter and an eighth in the 3200m. The girls finished eighth in the state.

The boys 4X800 relay team finished in seventh place. They finished in 8:14.77, a new school record. The boys team consisted of seniors Ryder Petrylak, Elias Morris and Jesse Woolstenhulme. The fourth member was sophomore Jack Jeffries.
