Fluco track and field athletes gain All-State honors

A host of Fluco athletes turned in All-State qualifying performances at the Class 3 State meet on May 31, according to Fluco track and field Coach Melanie Kennedy. Most impressive was the performance of the girls 4X400 relay team which finished first in the state with a school record time of 9:31.77. The team consisted of Sydney Chipperfield, Anna Amato, Sophie Farley and Ruby Frazier.

Three of these runners also garnered All-State honors in individual events, all in school record times. Farley finished 2nd in the 800 meter run in a very fast time of 2:13.41. Amato was 4th in the 3200    (the metric two mile), and Frazier was 7th in the 1600 (the metric mile.)

On the boys side the 4X400 relay team made All-State with a 5th place finish. Their time of 3:26.44 was a school record. The team consisted of Diver Davis, Jackson Fields, Garrett Jordan, and Elias Morris. Davis and Morris also made All-State in individual events. Morris was 6th best of all Class 3 runners in the 800. Davis 6th best in the 300 meter hurdles. Garrett did not make All-State, but he was a freshman running against a field of mostly juniors and seniors. He has recorded a time of 49.95 in the 400, the second fastest time in this event for a freshman in any class in the state.
